Sometimes costumes are reused as part of the story line in the show in which they appear. Downton Abbey costume designer Anna Mary Scott Robbins was tasked with creating costumes for a fashion show in fifth season. The gown was first worn on an extra as a model, and then again in the next episode on Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary after she purchases the dress.
Robbins says of the dress: “We bought a beautifully embellished tea dress, that was nigh on a hundred years
old, that was very delicate, and we spent a couple of weeks restoring
it, re-beading where it had fallen apart and re-backing it to make it
more robust. It was black and white, entirely beaded with flowers on
it, with sort of scallops on the bottom. And it’s quite cutting-edge
because it was just below the knee.”

We as women are trained to see ourselves as cheap imitations of fashion photographs, rather than seeing fashion photographs as cheap imitations of women.

17-Year-Old Girl Can Transform Herself Into Various Cultural Icons and Vintage Looks
Seveteen year old Belgian girl, Annelies Maria Francine has an uncanny eye for fashion and aesthetic. She transforms herself into classical icons such as Audrey Hepburn, Vivien Leigh, Anne Frank and even Belle’s Beauty & the Beast and Fitzgerald’s Daisy Buchanan. Francine’s recreation also go as far as accurately replicating vintage fashion trends from the Victorian, Edwardian the flapper.
Bring back the phase of society where having your tiddies all the way out was fine but showing ankle flesh was scandalous
i know this is aiming at 17. and 18. and 19. century fashion, but i really wanna bring back those dresses that only basically start under the boobs, like that little number Minoan snake goddess figurine is wearing
that was actually what i was thinking of! ive been obsessed with that figure since i was her in a history book as a kid lmao

the ultimate look!!! 2 titties out 2 snakes in hand
Beauty is not long hair, skinny legs, tanned skin or perfect teeth. Believe me. Beauty is the face of who cried and now smiles, beauty is the scar on your knee since you fell when you were a kid, beauty is the circles when love doesn’t let you sleep, beauty is the expression on the face when the alarm rings in the morning, it’s the melted makeup when you have a shower, it’s the laughter when you make a joke you’re the only one who can understand, beauty is meeting his gaze and stopping understanding, beauty is your gaze when you see him, it’s when you cry for all you paranoias, beauty is the lines marked by time. Beauty is what we feel in the inside which also shows outside us. Beauty is the marks the life leaves on us, all the kicks and the caresses the memories leave us. Beauty is letting yourself live. —Emma Watson
